1) Next neighborhood-wide HOA meeting is Saturday, October 19 at 11:00 am at the Sommer Place Park Pavilion.
(2) If you have not paid your HOA dues yet, you are technically overdue. We will accept dues payments, without late penalties, until the October 19th meeting. They can be mailed to PO Box 9162, Peoria, IL 61612-9162 or dropped off to the newspaper box at 6809 N. Basket Oak. Dues not paid by October 19 could incur late penalties.
(3) We have nearly exhausted our options to stop the CBUs in the new phases of our neighborhood. It appears that we have no choice and that they will be forced upon us. I expect a more detailed explanation of this issue at the upcoming meeting. But, in the meantime, I would urge you to contact Representative Schock’s office to see if they can intervene. A few talking points for your contact with Schock: Apparently, the USPS Central District Supervisor, Peter Allen, has the final say and there is no administrative review process. Allen has refused to take or return calls from me or our attorney. The law which allows him to place the CBUs has several exceptions, including the overall character and nature of the subdivision and whether houses within a block also have mail boxes. Despite these exceptions which would seem to support curbside mailboxes in the new portions of the neighborhood, the USPS seems intent on moving forward with the CBUs.
